Elisa, 24 years old girl madly in love with fashion. She has all the advantage to be a fashion blogger as she lives in Milan. The chat with her was very satisfying, she shared a lot of her in-depth thougths on being a fashion blogger for the past 2 years and to achieve her dream.
When did you start blogging and how did you come to this idea?
I opened the blog two years ago, driven by curiosity and my passion for fashion and beauty. I remember I was following some fashion bloggers on Instagram and then one day I came to this idea and I decided to open a my own space, I just wanted to share my passion with other girls!
Who is your style icon? Why?
Well, I have more then one, but Olivia Palermo and Miroslava Duma are my absolute favorites! They both look stunning whatever they wear! And then I still follow many fashion bloggers, you know, the best way to improve yourself is to learn from others. I especially love the style of Wendy Nguyen, Aimee Song and Julia Engel.
How do you describe your personal style?
What is your inspiration? My style is essential and feminine. I always add a chic touch to my outfits, like an accessory or just a detail. I take inspiration by almost everything, from the colors, the sounds, the nature. I observe a lot and I love playing with different pieces in order to create new combinations every time.
What are the essential pieces you must have in your closet?
I love chiffon and silk blouses and shirts, I think they’re perfect for almost every occasion, you can wear them with jeans for a casual chic outfit or with a pencil skirt or palazzo pants and the result will be always amazing. Other essential pieces for me are blazers, smart trousers, a good coat, a trench and black leather jacket and then of course accessories to complete every outfit!
How often do you post? How do you come up with post ideas?
I post 3 times per week, usually Monday, Wednesday and Friday! And I have to say I’m always inspired and full of new ideas! I note down everything that comes to mind and I make a list with all the topics that I would like to talk about on Ellysa.
What is the biggest challenge for you in fashion blogging?
Actually the biggest challenge is to keep balance and be able to divide your work from your personal life. Blogging can often become a 24h work, 7 days of 7, and it can be very stressful!
What is the greatest satisfaction of being a fashion blogger?
Without a doubt, the greatest satisfaction comes from the girls who follow you, always write kind things and read your blog every day! When you become the icon of somebody or when you just inspire people, well it’s a great thing!
What is the fashion rule you never break?
“Never show too much skin all together.” There is nothing more sexy than a well-dressed woman!
What do you splurge on?
Definitely shoes and bags… I'm such a disaster.
From your point of view, what is the notable trend for the upcoming season?
The romantic style is one of the biggest trends of Spring/Summer 2016: ruffles and frills, lace, baby pink and blush shades, off-the-shoulder tops. And then of course stripes and flowers, they are always a Must for the hot season!
Do you make money from your blog? Any advice for others?
To tell the truth since the beginning, making money with my blog was a minor thing. I rather prefer to reach a wide audience, inspire people and help to learn the art of dressing! Everything else comes by itself! But if I can give an advice, it’s to avoid accepting every collaboration. I always make like a filter, I mean, I carefully read every request and then I accept only those that are compatible with my style and my way of being!
Accepting everything, just to make more money, will not make you credible to your readers.
What has been your most successful blog post till now and what was it about?
Hair Do or Don't (https://www.ellysa.it/2016/02/hair-do- or-dont.html) Some "golden rules" of good Hair Care!
How do you see your blog in 5 years?
Well that’s a great question! It’s really hard to answer, because actually I never think about this. I just hope to increase my audience, so Ellysa can become my full-time job, because I really love blogging!
Do you want to share anything else besides these questions?
Well I just want to quote a few words from The Pursuit of Happiness, one of my favorite films: “Don’t ever let somebody tell you that you can’t do something. You’ve got a dream, you’ve gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you, you can’t do it. If you want something, go get it. Period.”
