Blogger Interview : Meet Xinyi, a big fashion dreamer!

The best thing in this world is doing what you really love to do. That expression we got after chat with this kind and creative lady! Xinyi started blogging and since then she is in unbreakable bond. Take a look on our little chat and find out why we are so amazed with her!

When did you start blogging and how did you come to the idea?

I started blogging during my first year in college. My family bought a DSLR and it hasn’t been utilize well, so I thought why not make good use of it and take some good photos! So I started documenting my outfits and at the same time also came across new fashion blogs that really inspires me to do more of it, and I haven’t stopped since.

Who is your style icon? Why?

Nicole Warne (Garypeppergirl) and Aimee Song (Songofstyle). I feel that they really own their unique style and carry them well. Trend is one thing, but they can also lead and stay ahead of the crowd.

How do you describe your personal style? What are your inspirations?

I would say more chic street style. I have to stay comfortable and be in the outfit the whole day running my daily routines rather than just for the few minutes for photo taking. So it is really important to be looking good in the outfit and staying comfy. That’s really rocking it! So I like to see on Instagram what off duty models/celebs/bloggers wear and take inspiration from there.

What are the essential pieces you must have in your closet?

Right now, it’s white tee, black tee (with simple graphics) and boyfriend jeans. Oh, and sunglasses is a must.

How often do you post? How do you come up with post ideas?

I try to post 2-3 times a week. Less than that my viewers are not coming back, and more than that I may run out of idea faster than I thought haha! Usually my post idea will be my outfit ideas, and that I take inspiration from Instagram, on the street, magazines, dramas, anything is possible!

What would you describe the biggest challenge in fashion blogging?

The biggest challenge I feel is how to keep up with trend but at the same time have your own style. It is easy to follow fashion trends, but then you will not stand out amongst the millions that are also riding on the trend. So the right balance is really hard to gasp, but after a while (of trial and error) you’ll realize what’s good for you and what’s not.

What is the greatest satisfaction of being a fashion blogger?

Other’s affirmation on my outfit choice! Beside looking good, now I KNOW I look good. That’s pretty rewarding.

A fashion rule you never break?

Denim is forever
What do you splurge on?

Shoes and shades. Even the most simple outfit can be leveled with a good pair of shoes or shades.
From your point of view, what is the notable trend for the upcoming season?

Fanny packs are definitely coming back, definitely rocking the high street!
Do you make money from your blog? Any advice for others?

Nope. I just post what I want to. It is the one place I know I can call all the shots to. If blogging is what you like to do, it will do it regardless if there’s money.

How do you see your blog in 5 years?

Hopefully to reach a much bigger audience and have chances to work with top notch designers and brands over the world. Well, a girl can dream. (:
