Portuguese fashion and beauty blogger Inês (behind Moi) get almost all her inspiration from Instagram (you too? Smiley face) and she move from classy to vintage to street style depends on mood, weather and various elements. Can hobby and career become one another? We hope she can continue to blog and always be lively and gorgeous.
When did you start blogging and how did you come to the idea?
It has been over a year now since my first blog post. I created it as a way to develop myself creatively and be more productive in my free time. I started posting smoothies recipes from pictures I had already shared on my Instagram account, followed by posting restaurants and coffee shops’ reviews and, currently, I’ve been posting more regularly posts of my looks and beauty picks.
Who is your style icon? Why?
For classy, Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s is the obvious choice, for vintage I must point out Andy Torres from Style Scrapbook blog as my idol, and for all the others, Chiara Ferragni is my everyday inspiration and a true style icon.
How do you describe your personal style? What are your inspirations?
My style varies according to my mood, weather and inspirations. These inspirations come from every stylish girl I find on my insta feed and who I immediately want to follow. I feel like my style is not defined yet, one day I can feel like dressing classy, the next grungy, the other girly and even vintage. And I like that versatility.
What are the essential pieces you must have in your closet?
My essentials are a leather jacket, a high-rise pair of jeans, Adidas kicks and a silk scarf.
How often do you post? How do you come up with post ideas?
I try to post as often as I can. During school time, I’d post every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, leaving the weekend to photograph looks, go to cafés and edit the photos. Normally, the ideas for a post come from a new clothing or makeup purchase and a discovery of a new place in town that speaks to me.
What would you describe the biggest challenge in fashion blogging?
The biggest challenge is to differentiate from the huge number of fashion bloggers in the world and to create a unique style that is recognizable among all those fashionable people. Also the consistency is hard to keep up sometimes. The best fashion blogger is up to trends and has something new every week to show. And either you have a good partnership with a brand that provides you with new items or have a lot of money that you’re willing to spend on new clothes for everyday posts. And I’m not in any of those stages yet.
What is the greatest satisfaction of being a fashion blogger?
It’s the positive feedback my followers give me. It boosts my confidence to a thousand and makes me want to shoot more looks and keep up with the work.
A fashion rule you never break?
“Always be yourself.”
What do you splurge on?
From your point of view, what is the notable trend for the upcoming season?
Metals. Metals everywhere.
Do you make money from your blog? Any advice for others?
I do not. I tried Google ads, but after a few months, I still hadn’t made €1. And the partnerships I’ve had, are solely based on trade of products, meaning they give me their products in exchange of a review and tags on my social media.
What has been your most successful blog post till now and what was it about?
The most successful has been this photoshoot I did with a real photographer. She was able to capture my essence in the most angelic way. The results were absolutely stunning. (you can check it out here: https://moibyines.blogspot.pt/2016/05/florals-for-spring.html)
How do you see your blog in 5 years?
I’m not sure if in 5 years I’ll still have this blog. Of course I’d love to continue to grow this platform and share my looks and travels, but you never know if you can juggle work with hobby. Only if one becomes the other – and that’s the dream!
Is there anything that you want to share with us, which was not included in the list?
Blogging was a creative escape for me while in college, but today it has led me into this whole new world of amazing people and content that I never knew it existed until I started putting myself out there. And till now, it has been amazing and endearing.
