Blogger Interview: Céline from France – “I want to be different, stay unique & stay natural”

French blogger Céline (merrygoroundgirl.com) is a school teacher by day, and a lifestyle blogger by night. She said one of the things trouble her very much is that she doesn’t have enough time to post what she wants.  She spends a lot of time thinking how to differentiate herself from other bloggers, which to her is so crucial as producing similar content to other is the last thing she wants in blogging.

French fashion blogger

When did you start blogging and how did you come to the idea?
I decided to create my blog in July 2014. I've been addicted to fashion for several years, I'd follow some fashion social medias and I naturally wanted to have my own space and share my passions and discoveries with people. I was really interested in interacting with people and discover more.

Who is your style icon? Why?
My style icon is definitively Chiara Ferragni. I love what she designs, her everyday style but also how she succeeded in living her dreams. But I also like Alexa Chung and Olivia Palermo a lot.

How do you describe your personal style? What are your inspirations?
My everyday style is quite BCBG. But I like fashion because we can choose to be someone different thanks to clothes. So it depends, sometimes I can also wear something more girly or more boyish. It also depends on my mood.

What are the essential pieces you must have in your closet?
It's quite hard to be objective because there are a lot of pieces I'm attached to. But I'll answer and say a pair of jeans depending on the style (I choose slim), a white shirt and a perfecto with nice boots.

How often do you post? How do you come up with post ideas?
I'd decided to post three times a month because I had a lot of work with my job. But I hope I'll do best in the following months because I was really disappointed not being able to post.
My ideas comes from what I'm wearing but also from new designers or new brand I mostly discover on Instagram or Facebook. Seasons are markers too because desires and inspirations change with them.

What would you describe the biggest challenge in fashion blogging?
The biggest challenge is acquiring its own space, readers and visibility. I think that there are more and more fashion bloggers nowadays, sometimes everyone has the same content and that's exactly what I don't want. It means staying unique and talking with natural. If you are natural, people will feel it and see you as someone reliable.

What is the greatest satisfaction of being a fashion blogger?
Expressing myself is just what I wanted when I started. But I felt really surprised when people told me they wanted to wear some clothes I put on my blog or that they were actually happy to buy some products I showed too. I realized I had become an influencer, which I had never thought about. Today, I'm happy to be part of the fashion community and I'm also proud to have loyals readers. Something I like to is meeting new people when I want to write a post on new brands.

A fashion rule you never break?
I don't have any special fashion rule, to me, fashion is freedom. If I want to wear something, I wear it, no matter what people think.

What do you splurge on?
I must admit that I'm addicted to shoes. I bought leopard ones not so long ago but I'm already looking for new boots again.

From your point of view, what is the notable trend for the upcoming season?
Obviously … leopard! And it's better if it's a coat.

Do you make money from your blog? Any advice for others?
For the moment I don't make money from my blog. I was actually working and it was impossible with my old job to have another activity. I could make some collaborations and that’s what I did. But I'm reflecting and I would like to in the following years if I can and if I extend my influence. It's one of my new goals.
My only advice would be to create something starting from a real desire and interest for fashion in order to express yourself, not in order to make money. If you succeed in getting money, you're lucky and it's a positive bonus but creation is the heart of a blog.

What has been your most successful blog post till now and what was it about?
My most successful blog post was an outfit I posted when I was visiting my favourite village in my region.

How do you see your blog in 5 years?
I hope it will grow of course! I would like to do more for it because I couldn't until then and I'm really determined to work to make it happen. Nothing happen without passion and work. But it has already changed and I think it's a beginning, it constantly evolves with me.

Is there anything that you want to share with us which was not included in the list?
Maybe something I learnt these last years, stay passionate, stay yourself and work for what you love, it's the best thing in life and it leads to great things.
