When did you start blogging and how did you come to this idea?
I started blogging after I graduated college, when I wanted to find a form of self-expression that was adaptable as I grew and was inspired by different people, places, and experiences. I am constantly inspired by people I meet and their aspirations – I wanted to allow their style and passion to influence me and I wanted to document it.
Who is your style icon? Why?
I’m very inspired by other bloggers. My favorites are Pam from The Girl from Panama, Allison from Darie’s Diary, Arielle from Something Navy, Paola from Blank Itinerary, Tillie from My Stiletto Life, Courtney from Bring Your Own Beauty, Kelly and Courtney from Mimosas and Manhattan, and Jamie Chung from What the Chung? I also love to look at Intermix online and see how they style different pieces. I also love seeing how Selena Gomez’s style has evolved over time.
How do you describe your personal style? What is your inspiration?
My personal style is really adaptive. I would say it’s consistent with popular trends, and how my personal style icons inspire me. It ranges from feminine to edgy to – well, whatever I feel like at the time.
What is the essential pieces you must have in your closet?
A beautiful pair of nude heels, black and tan blazers, skinny jeans, basic t-shirts, and a dream bag.
How often do you post? How do you come up with post ideas?
I post on average about three times a week, sometimes more or less. I come up with post ideas by picturing outfits that would go well together, trying to incorporate a latest style, or something I would find useful to readers that I am knowledgeable about, such as my guide to New York City.
What is the biggest challenge for you in fashion blogging?
The biggest challenge was establishing a personal brand that embodied who I am while also being adaptive.
What is the greatest satisfaction of being a fashion blogger?
Meeting so many people – bloggers, boutiques, brand owners, etc. and establishing a strong network. I recently was able to work with the founders of the jewelry brand Eleanor Kalle, which is hand-made in New York City. I was able to interview Amy, one of the founders, and meet both of them at an event at my alma mater.
What is the fashion rule you never break?
Embrace your shape! Wear what makes you feel happy. Don’t worry about the judgments of other people.
What do you splurge on?
Shoes and bags! Definitely feel that it’s better to have quality over quantity. Also always splurge on experiences and vacations.
From your point of view, what is the notable trend for the upcoming season?
Right now I really like the cold shoulder / off-the- shoulder trend.
Do you make money from your blog? Any advice for others?
Yes, I do make money from my blog through affiliate programs, advertising, and sponsorships/collaborations. When I originally started my blog, I did not intend on this, but I’ve found that I love working and meeting both growing and established brands and partnering with them. I love working with new brands and helping them establish themselves in the industry through marketing. My advice for others is to first, before you start blogging or down your career path, set defined goals for yourself and where you want your career or hobby to take you within the next year, five years, etc. Then, start out by creating a strong personal brand. Once that is established, and you are creating content that is popular amongst readers, brands will reach out to work with you, as will readers. Also – don’t be shy! Be a go-getter. Reach out to bloggers, boutiques, and brands and ask if they are interested in working together. Put together a strong media pack and reasoning as to why you would be a good means for advertising.
What has been your most successful blog post till now and what was it about?
Two Sides of SheIn – a post featuring my best friend Rachel, and how we partnered with the brand SheIn to create two different looks, was the most successful. I think it was because of how real and fun it was for us!
How do you see your blog in 5 years?
Adapting and evolving to mesh with the person I am in five years
Do you want to share anything else besides these questions?
