Spanish blogger Claudia started her journey based on the inspiration by other bloggers, now she has become one of them to inspire others. She is very good at mix and match, so called ‘playing with fashion and trends’ – not necessary with big brands, simple pieces can create magic with Claudia. Read the interview to know more about her daily works, life and dreams.
When did you start blogging and how did you come to the idea?
I started blogging three years ago and it all started during my summer holidays with a friend of mine. She encouraged me to start my own blog since I was browsing through fashion blogs all day. I had an obsession with popular fashion bloggers and I decided to open my own one and show people my particular view of fashion.
Who is your style icon? Why?
I don't have a style icon but I really like Chiarra Ferragni, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. I love how they play with fashion and trends. They're really brave and try out crazy combos which I always end up loving.
How do you describe your personal style? What are your inspirations?
My personal style is pretty eclectic and I always try to add a crazy touch to my looks. I love cool and different trends that can be quite crazy but fun at the same time. I love playing with fashion and wearing outstanding pieces, that´s my kind of style. I get my inspiration mainly from streetstyle looks. I love watching people in the street and paying attention to what they're wearing.
What are the essential pieces you must have in your closet?
My essential pieces are a pair of black combat boots, some ripped jeans, a black leather jacket, a white basic tee and a hat. I think those are my closet essentials and I couldn't live without them. They're all basic pieces that you can wear on an everyday base and hats are my favorite accessory.
How often do you post? How do you come up with post ideas?
I post everyday and normally rest on Saturdays. I post my daily outfits during the week and on Sundays I always like to share an inspiration post that´s about a new trend or something that has to do with fashion and beauty. I get my inspiration from social media like Instagram, Tumblr and Pinterest. Of course, I also get my inspiration from other fashion bloggers. I browse through fashion blogs every single day. It has become a part of my routine.
What would you describe the biggest challenge in fashion blogging?
The biggest challenge in fashion blogging is becoming popular. There are too many fashion blogs around the world and becoming a popular one can be quite difficult. You have to do it great at blogging and show a different style that catches people's attention.
What is the greatest satisfaction of being a fashion blogger?
The greatest satisfaction is having the opportunity to help other people. I love when people ask me through my social media what to wear and read emails of followers that ask me for fashion advice. It feels amazing when people trust you and think your opinion counts.
A fashion rule you never break?
I don't really believe in fashion rules because rules were made to be broken. There is nothing forbidden in fashion and I never say never because I don't know what I'll end up wearing. Trends usually come back so if I start hating something it´s only for a while because I know maybe one day I´ll end up wearing it again. Following rules can be quite boring while playing with fashion and creating crazy combos is a lot of fun.
What do you splurge on?
I usually splurge on shoes. I have a big obsession with shoes and I don't mind spending more money in good quality shoes that have a cool design. I think a good pair of shoes can make an outfit way more interesting so I love buying nice shoes!
From your point of view, what is the notable trend for the upcoming season?
The notable trend for the upcoming season is tulle. Tulle pieces like tutu skirts, dresses and tops are going to hit the streets. I love the punk vibe of this trend because tulle tops are quite see through so you can wear them with jeans underneath. Tutu skirts also look really cool with a casual sweatshirt and some combat boots, very Rihanna…
Do you make money from your blog? Any advice for others?
Yes I make money from my blog but it's definitely not enough. I earn some money from banners, sponsored posts and from selling the clothes that brands send me. My advice if you want to earn money from your blog is to be very patient. It´s really difficult to make a living from the blogging industry because you need millions of followers to get paid by brands. It takes a lot of time, effort and hard work.
What has been your most successful blog post till now and what was it about?
One of the most popular posts this year was when the blog did three years and I posted a beautiful photoshoot that I did at the beach. I was wearing a white swimsuit with a suede jacket on top and many people liked it. I also received a lot of nice messages wishing me happy birthday for the blog's anniversary. It was a great post that one!
How do you see your blog in 5 years?
I see my blog way more improved with a better web design, better quality on the pictures and nice texts. I wish the Trendencies family has become a lot bigger and I also want to open my own clothing brand and online store. I'd also love to be posting pregnant looks in 5 years, haha.
Is there anything that you want to share with us which was not included in the list?
My best advice for all of you who want to start a blog is to do what you love if that's what makes you happy. Don't worry about the numbers and the statics because that won't make you a good fashion blogger. Work on your blog design, write good texts and do nice photos!
